Reducing Losses from Windstorms: Hidden Dangers in New and Existing Construction

A special public symposium was held in Washington on November 18-19, examining the causes of wind damage and opportunities to reduce these devastation annual losses. Leading researchers in the field and top officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Institute for Standards and Technology made presentations and participated in panel discussions

The event was held at the Ronald Reagan Amphitheater of the International Trade Center. Primary sponsors were the American Association for Wind Engineering, and the Texas Tech University Wind Science and Engineering Research Center. The LSU Hurricane Center was a co-sponsor.
